How to Go Hand in Hand With Jee Main and Cbse Preparation?
It has been observed that students who are willing to pursue Engineering as a part of their college studies, Class XII is perhaps the toughest and most challenging class of their school studies. The reason behind this is the simultaneous preparation for JEE Mains examination as well as the CBSE examinations. Both the exams are conducted at separation of one odd month. In such a scenario, it becomes really difficult to manage preparation for both of them. According to the sources, JEE Main 2019 will be conducted twice a year I.e in January and April which can hamper CBSE Board preparations in a significant manner. Therefore, aspiring students will have to strategize their preparations in order to ace both CBSE and JEE Main exams because a great strategy along with a right attitude can do wonders.
While both the exams are conducted by the same exam conducting body, they vary largely from each other. While CBSE boards are subjective exams with moderate difficulty level and no negative marking, JEE Mains is objective, relatively difficult and includes 1/4th negative marking for every wrong answer. The other similarities or differences between the two exams are enlisted below:
1. CBSE exams cover only class XII syllabus while JEE Mains covers class XI as well as XII syllabus thus taking the difficulty level of exam a notch higher.
2. Both the exams are an amalgamation of theory as well as application based questions. While the questions in CBSE boards are of average difficulty level, JEE Main questions are harder. The main purpose of increased difficulty level of JEE Mains questions is too weed out the average students and keep the competitive ones in race.
For class XII students, the NCERT books are equivalent to the holy Bible. The reason is that CBSE Boards exams of class XII come from the various topics and concepts discussed in the NCERT books only. Even for JEE Mains, NCERT books are the best source of preparation. However due to the higher difficulty level of the exam, one is advised to refer to the books of other renowned publishers as well so as to understand the relatable extension of a topic or practice more questions on the same. This increases ones clarity of concepts thus making a student exam ready.
1. GET COMPLETE KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR SYLLABUS
Before beginning your preparation on full swings, it is very important to get a comprehensive idea of your syllabus for the respective examinations. There are some topics which are of little or no importance for JEE Mains while the same topics are relatively important for CBSE Boards. Knowing your syllabus will help you in deciding which areas to focus on more. After the syllabus is understood completely, one needs to focus on plan of action.
2. PREPARE A TIMETABLE AND STICK TO IT RELIGIOUSLY
Everybody makes a timetable but very few of them stick to it. It is the latter who emerge as the ultimate winners. Sticking to a time table helps you in being disciplined about your course curriculum and managing time properly. One should always divide the time table in such a way that the preparations do not become monotonous. Additionally, one needs to give ample time to class XI syllabus also because it occupies almost half the questions in JEE Mains exam. Ideally, a student should allot weekdays to class XII with one hour atleast for class XI revision. During weekend, proper revision and rigorous practice of the topics studied in the week should be done. Timetables help a student in completing the syllabus in due time and leave room for revision.
3. SET WEEKLY GOALS
Setting goals always gives you the direction to move forward. But one should always make realistic goals and try to get closer to them with every passing day. Setting weekly goals of each subject is the best way forward. One should also evaluate himself at the end of every week so as to analyze the progress made in the week.
4. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
Practice is the key to the college of your dreams. Solving sample test papers and model test papers for CBSE Boards gives an idea of the important questions from exam point of view. For JEE Mains, solving timed mock tests helps in preparations in a great manner. It will not only help you in analyzing your performance but will also help in time management. Dividing time between all the sections and enhancing your performance in stressful conditions is well understood by attempting and regularly analyzing mock tests.
5. NOTE DOWN THE IMPORTANT THINGS
Make notes of anything that seems important to you. Even if there is a trick or a concept that you come across while solving mock tests or practice questions and is relevant with the syllabus, note it down. Revising these small yet important things timely will help you largely in accelerating your performance.
