Continuous Learning in Organizations: Individual, Group, And Organizational Perspectives”, a book written by Valerie I. Sessa & Manuel London discusses the 3 stages of learning and how the levels are co-related. The book includes unexplored concepts of the universal truth which basically states that every human being has an internal learning mechanism which they need to activate in order to grow with the changing environment. Thus, we should try to continuously learn new things that will help us easily resolve our day-to-day problems, at home or at the workplace.
Now, professionals should engage in continuous learning to develop and improve upon their on-field skills and understand techniques in a better manner. You can become an improved worker achieving high productivity and satisfying your clients only through a continuous learning process.
So, now that the question arises is how can we advance our skills? Let’s look at some suggestions.
Set Aside a Learning Time
It is always important to set aside some time for studying. – It can be as much as 30 minutes to 3 hours on a weekly basis. As all of us know that it is only through continuous practice that we can sharpen our skills and be motivated to work even with increased vigor and efficiency. It may not be restricted to reading your work related journals or such other materials only, but can be expanded to newspapers, and business magazines that will give you an overall idea about the ways to develop your business skills and work successfully to earn a higher profit.
Pay Attention
It is necessary to think twice about what you do and why you are doing it. Many a times, we human beings, never really pay attention to how we can enhance our existing skills and gain more expertise over it. Just the act of paying attention will make a big difference in your workplace and enable you to focus more on your tasks.
Draw Inspiration from your Co-workers
You should never detach yourself from getting inspired by your senior’s or even from your competition. Look closely at what they are doing and how they are resolving problems or handling various difficult situations that crop up when running a business.
Organize a Class/Training Session
Organizations should mandatorily host a couple of classes or training sessions each year to educate and motivate the workers to enrich their knowledge, share company highlights and generally inspire them to perform with increased perfection. You can organize an on-site or online training as per the requirement.
Accept Criticisms
A good worker always reacts to criticisms very positively and tries to learn from the mistakes. You can ask people to judge your work and give an honest feedback on what they feel about it.
